Our Board is elected by our Members and proudly acts as the voice of the Members, overseeing and setting the policies and governance of DUCA.
Tom Vandeloo is a trusted advisor to business executives across Canada. As a Partner at PwC, Tom helps his clients create and realize value from M&A transactions. Tom has worked with over 130 companies in nearly every sector of the Canadian economy over his 30-year career. He brings this broad business experience to DUCA’s Board of Directors.
Tom has been a member of DUCA’s Board of Directors since 2015, serving as Chair of the Board from 2016 until now. He lives in Richmond Hill with his wife Kelly and their children Michelle, Neil, and Katie.
Peter Adamek is an independent corporate director and a senior investment executive with over 28 years of experience in the financial industry. Having worked at Scotiabank, Manulife and Royal Bank, he gained extensive financial, business development and banking expertise in the areas of corporate and international lending, risk management, and alternative assets/private equity investing.
Peter worked on numerous private equity investments and mezzanine financing in Canada and internationally, served on corporate boards, and worked with management teams to grow their companies organically or via accretive M&A strategies. He is honoured to serve on DUCA's Board and contribute to its growth for the benefit of all DUCA Members and the communities they live in.
Peter holds an MBA from the University of New Brunswick and an ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors – Rotman School of Management. His business acumen and effectiveness are also enhanced by his legal background as he obtained a law degree and worked as a corporate lawyer in the Czech Republic before he came to Canada.
Carlo Crozzoli is a corporate director and senior executive with 30 years experience in regulated industries. Carlo is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) and has earned the Institute of Corporate Directors designation, ICD.D, through the Rotman School of Management.
Carlo has meaningful board, corporate leadership and community experience that will position him well to make a valuable contribution to DUCA. Carlo currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Demand Power Group and Columbus Centre of Toronto.
Carlo has previously served as the senior executive in charge of strategy, mergers and acquisitions and project development and as the Chief Risk Officer at a large Ontario-based company operating in a heavily regulated industry with revenues in excess of $5 billion.
He believes his demonstrated success in setting and executing strategy, driving growth, collaboration and consensus-building, together with his in-depth financial and risk management experience, diversity of thought and overall business acumen can make a significant contribution to the overall success and growth of DUCA.
Carlo believes in DUCA’s philosophy of putting people before profits and that providing an exceptional, personalized Member experience will help them do more, be more and achieve more.
Jeff Hogan is a Chartered Professional Accountant (formerly Chartered Accountant) having a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto. Jeff has also obtained the Institute of Corporate Directors Designation (ICD.D) and a certificate as a Corporate Social Responsibility Practitioner from the Centre of Sustainability and Excellence.
A former public auditor with experience auditing banks, mutual funds, pension funds, and investment trustees, Jeff has vast business experience and knowledge in finance, audit, risk management, information technology systems, investments, and real estate. Jeff is currently a financial executive in the health care sector.Jeff has served as a Board Director for DUCA since 2016, and serves on various committees including Audit, and as current Chair of the Human Resource and Compensation Committee.
Jeff has been a DUCA member for over 30 years, continuously supporting DUCA's goals, values and philosophy. Jeff has also had prior Board roles with various non-profit organizations.
Michelle Wassenaar is a founder of Method Law Professional Corporation, an intellectual property agency and litigation firm serving multinational and domestic clients as well as providing pro-bono services to charities such as Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada.
She is a lawyer, patent and trademark agent with a JD, MSc and BSc from the University of Toronto.
Michelle has appeared before the Federal Court, the Federal Court of Appeal, and the Trade-marks Opposition Board and has represented clients in domain name dispute proceedings before WIPO and NAF. She is a speaker and author on intellectual property issues for various publications and organizations.
She was elected in 2018 and, in addition to her role as Board Director with DUCA, is a past-President of the Board of the CNBPA (Canadian Netherlands Business Professionals Association).
Michelle lives and works in Toronto, and enjoys watching her three teenage sons play volleyball and attending business and social events at her club, Verity.
Marijke was born and educated in the Netherlands where she attended the University of Amsterdam and obtained her Masters in Law degree. She is the owner of Nevian Consulting & Placement Services Inc., a successful bilingual recruitment firm and Nevian Associates.
Marijke has served as Vice-President on the Board of the CNBPA (Canadian Netherlands Business Professionals Association) and as a Board Director of EUCOCIT (European Chamber of Commerce).
Currently she serves as a Board Director with DUCA and is Chair of the Budget Committee and member of the Governance and Investment Committees. She lives in Richmond Hill with her husband and young daughter.
Marijke’s strengths are emphasized by her experience, education and entrepreneurial mind-set.
Frans is a seasoned IT executive currently serving as Vice President, Information Technology, at Canada’s largest administrator of retirement and benefit plans. His past experiences include development of online and telephone banking platforms for President’s Choice Financial and software development for a fast-growing, technology start-up focused on mobile banking.
Frans has extensive expertise in online security, web, and mobile-based systems as well as data analytics. He uses his proficiency in the financial technology sector and his focus on IT governance, leadership, and delivery in the pension and benefits space to contribute to the Board of Directors as it aims to meet the changing financial needs of a new generation of DUCA Members.
Born and raised in The Netherlands, Frans graduated with a Master of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Twente, Enschede, The Netherlands.
Steve Dobronyi is an independent Corporate Director, Chief Executive Officer and business leader with 35 years of experience in insurance and financial services. He has served on the DUCA Board of Directors since 2019 and is also a member of the Board of Directors of Accerta insurance company and Junction Craft Brewing.
Steve’s primary areas of expertise are governance, strategy, people, finance and mergers & acquisitions.
Steve has an ICD.D designation from the Rotman School of Management. He’s an Associate of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and the Society of Actuaries and a graduate of Western University.
Director Anne-Marie has been a member of the DUCA Board of Directors since 2016. She brings finance, risk management and governance expertise to the Board drawing on senior executive experience from across the financial services industry including as Chief Investment & Pension Officer at one of Canada’s largest defined benefit pension funds.
Anne-Marie also serves on the Boards of The Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group and Habitat for Humanity GTA and the Advisory Board of The University of Iowa Tippie College of Business. In the community, she enjoys volunteering with and is a proud supporter of Habitat for Humanity.
Anne-Marie obtained the Chartered Director designation (C.Dir) from The Directors College and the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors. She earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter and graduated with an MBA from Ivey Business School and BBA from The University of Iowa.

The DUCA Board Elections Committee would like to raise awareness of the upcoming Board of Directors Nominations period, starting November 9th, 2020. DUCA will be seeking nominations of qualified candidates for the Board of Directors to fill three vacancies for the upcoming three-year term.
